10 Hollywood Films We Are Rooting For In 2017

The year 2016 was great for films, 2017 is even greater. Logan, Beauty and The Beast, John Wick 2 and much more were a huge success at the box office this year, and this is just the tip of the iceberg. There is more to come.

There are ten Hollywood films we are rooting for this year.

Justice League

The story picks up from the prequel Batman v Superman. Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) and Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) is assembling a team of superheroes consisting of Barry Allen aka Flash (Ezra Miller), Arthur Curry aka Aquaman (Jason Momoa), and Victor Stone aka Cyborg (Ray Fisher). They face the catastrophic threat of Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons, who are looking for three mother boxes on Earth.

Why shouldn’t one look forward to this film? The trailer looks great, with captivating visuals and action. Given Zack Snyder is directing the feature; it sure is in capable hands. We are excited about Superman’s entry though.

Thor: Ragnarok

Since the trailer dropped a week ago, comic book fans are like what, we were too, because it looks dope. Everything on the side, our heart skipped a beat when we saw Cate Blanchett – bloody good looking with that mascara and the entry of The Hulk… whatttt? The plot is simple — after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor, is held captive on the planet Sakaar. With his hammer destroyed and no powers, he must win a gladiatorial duel against an old friend — the Hulk — in order to return to Asgard in time to stop the villainous Hela and the impending Ragnarök, the doom of the Asgardian civilisation.

Looking forward to stunning visuals, a pint full of slapstick humour and a roller-coaster ride with this one.

 Alien: Covenant

The crew of the colony ship Covenant is on a remote planet far from Earth. For them it’s paradise, but the reality is far from the truth.

It’s always great when you put characters in unknown territories and circumstances and who better to do it than director Ridley Scott. We would bet our money on this one, for sure.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

We really don’t care what the plot is on this one, really! When you have characters like Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer and most importantly Baby Groot, we would say, ‘Shut Up And Take Our Money.’ Vol. 1 was good, and we are pretty sure Vol. 2 would not disappoint either. Marvel sure knows how to project their comics on the big screen.

Wonder Woman

You have been waiting for this for a long time, haven’t you? So have we! It’s about time Wonder Woman got her own films and the visuals look bigger than ever. Further, the feature has Gal Gadot as the lead… okay, case closed!

Spider-Man: Homecoming

We’ve loved the Spider-Man franchise, but this one nails the character and the mannerism of Peter Parker to the T, along with a lot of ass-kicking, of course!

After a stint with The Avengers, young Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is happy with what he has accomplished so far and wants to enroll with The Avengers. But Parker must soon put his abilities to the test when the evil Vulture threatens to seize everything that he holds dear.

This feature follows the true story of Operation Dynamo and how Allied soldiers from Britain, Belgium, Canada, and France are surrounded by the German Army on the beaches of Dunkirk and evacuated between 26 May and 4 June, 1940; the early stages of the Second World War.

Looking at the first few trailers of this epic film, which looks nothing short of a masterpiece, we feel it might be a strong contender for the Oscars this year. Again, it’s written and directed by Christopher Nolan, so we are sure he will deliver.

Atomic Blonde

Write a tight script with all the action you can possibly think of. And then, add a strong woman character to the mix and you are left with something unique and worth remembering. It reminds us of Kill Bill, just that it’s rooted in 1989 and tells a tale about a female spy — how cool is that?

The Mummy

Whenever there is a film that talks about a mythical being who wants to control the world, we are the ones intently listening. There is a lot of action, and when the sequences are performed by Mr Tom Cruise, it means serious business.

The Dark Tower

When the film takes its root from one of the best series written by Stephen King there is nothing to complain, really. Somehow King’s novels end up beings good adaptations for the silver screen, so it’s safe to say that we are eagerly waiting for this one, too.

Which of these are you looking forward to watching? Let us know in the comments below.
