Interesting Bollywood Films That You Should Definitely Catch This Year

Who says India doesn’t make good films? Yes, we do have features that are not worth a cent, but we don’t consider them as films, they are just like bubble gum—you chew, you spit, and you forget! But their films that make you think, and feel for the character too… personalities that are a part of our daily lives. Weave that into a script, and something good and worthwhile will come out of it. On that note, here are few yet to be released pieces of Indian cinema that have the human element.

Lipstick Under My Burkha

A film that won accolades the world over, but is put on the wait list by the Censor Board of India, hmm, we wonder why? Nonetheless, this well-thought feature is finally getting a release date, and it is this Friday! Why should you watch this feature? For the simple reason that it celebrates women, and brings out issues (like sex, desire, and above all freedom to be what they want to be) that should be talked about and discussed more openly. It’s the need of the hour people.

This crime drama, based on the life of gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli is next in line. We fell in love with the trailer—with emphasis given on lighting as a part of the narrative, it gave us the chills. This one might be the underdog, for sure. We expect a lot out of this film.

Babumoshai Bandookbaaz

What not to like about a film starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui? The film follows the story of Babu—a witty sharp shooter who kills for a living. The feature is filled with tongue-in-cheek humour and is full of twist and turns which may be interesting to watch.

This topsy-turvy film tells the tale of love, crime and living a lifetime—all in one night. Add underworld goons, doomed bankers and idealistic lovers in the mix and this one turns into a crazy train.

When you have Hansal Mehta as the director and Kangana Ranaut filling in the lead role, you have to take notice. Simran tells the tale of an ambitious Gujarati housekeeping lady in the US and how she gets involved in a world of crime.
