Healthy competition in the F&B sector is good because it gives birth to newer ideas and innovations, no wonder there are bars and restaurants in every nook and cranny of the city. Also, they are lucrative too. Again, this is Bangalore, two things we get to see a lot— pubs and new places! Who are we kidding?
Here are fifteen new food places, that are making a mark on the culinary map of Bangalore. Have a look.
Since it’s all about Instagram and Snapchat these days, here is a newly opened space that will make your selfies look cooler and your meals scrumptious… without a filter. Say hello to Sly Granny – originally a granny’s home (as legend has it), Sly Granny today is a refurbished house filled with curiosities, staircases, and a collection of spaces (some unmentionable) with varied experiences, each opening into different vibes through the day. Add food influences from across the globe, laced with European influences and you have a space that is fun, friendly and upbeat.

Jonah’s Terrace Lounge
The folks at the terrace lounge are committed to serving you sensational and delicious food. They say that their “recipes have a soul and they will make sure they dig deeper to delight your appetite!” Well, looking at the reviews and things people have to say about their menu, we have to give them a nod of approval. But again, look at that place, just look at it. We would want to go and experience it at least once!

The Flying Squirrel
If you are someone who is always going like ‘Coffee is the best, bro.’ ‘Che, who drinks chai, bro!’ then you will be visiting this place at least once a week. It’s a micro roastery (and café) so that means they brew (and produce) their own coffee! Further, it is a space where you can experience ‘coffee culture.’ Pick from varieties like Clouds in My Coffee – a naturally processed beverage, using sea-side moisture-saturated air to create a distinctively bold, deep flavour. Aromatique – a select Arabica single-estate, naturally processed coffee with mild sweetness and an almost wine-like rounded acidity and more. Walk into this roastery and you are greeted by the aroma of coffee we are all aware of. Pair that with their sumptuous European-inspired menu and all you need is some light music in the background to complete the appeal.

We thought hookahs were a thing of the past, apparently not. Cafe Azzure is a bistro-café/hookah lounge that serves lavish continental cuisine along with a pipe! What adds to the appeal is the breath-taking view from their alfresco area. And a perfect ten for where this cafe is located too. Take this experience further with signature nibbles like peri-peri chicken burger, BBQ chick wings, a cooler, and a flavoured hookah on the side and your day will be made.

With its ‘High Chai’ menu, and desi cocktails, this is how you get all the Indian cuisine together under one roof – and succeed at it too. We really like the décor here, easy on the eye and nothing over the top! Right from their Naga ghost pepper wing, Calcutta club fish fry, to the old Delhi murg boti with butter roomali, this restaurant is your culinary tour guide for India, and an affordable one too! Don’t forget to sample drinks from the bar and yes – their chai, order that, for sure.

Broadway – The Gourmet Theatre
For the outside, Broadway is just another gourmet gastro bar serving global cuisine? So what’s new about that? Well here is where you are wrong. In a nutshell, there are six elements to the spreads at Broadway — one, amusement: something that brings out the child in you. Two — surprise: Something unexpected. Three — spectacle: something great to look at. Four — nuave: something new. Five — antiquity: something ancient. And six — quintessence: The perfect example of. Since the cuisine here is inspired by Origami and the Broadway theatre in New York, you can expect creativity and drama when you make a reservation there. We would suggest this as an ideal place to take your date. We recommend you try the Japanese section of the menu.
